Tortilleria Nixtamal, a small tortilla factory, restaurant, and cultural center in Corona, Queens, New York City, that serves up authentic Mexican cooking. The restaurant’s crowning achievement? The fresh corn tortillas made daily!
Accentuated by these fresh tortillas, Nixtamal’s impressive menu offers a wide range of Mexican classics, many of which have come from family recipes from members of their staff. We were lucky enough to learn how to make chicken and pork tamales with chef Santiago Mendez, who himself used to eat them as a child in Mexico.
